William Curran
Collins, Jr.
Born November 5, 1931
Marblehead, Massachusetts
William C. Collins, Jr., son of William C. Collins, Sr.
and Margery R. Dutton Collins, brother to Miriam L.
Collins (Gomez, Harding), and uncle to Darrell A.
Gomez and Lila R. Moore passed away Thursday,
March 31, 2022, in Arlington, Massachusetts. He
was 90 years old.
William was an active, extremely bright individual
who loved the outdoors, tennis, skiing, golfing and
long-distance walking. An avid life master bridge
player he enjoyed playing online bridge.
Prior to finishing his college education, he enlisted in
the army during the Korean War from 1951-1953
and received two Bronze service stars for his
service.
Upon returning from the Korean War William finished
his education and graduated from Boston College
for his undergraduate work and Northeastern
University for his master’s degree, both in
mathematics. After college he worked as a math
teacher for two years and then the bulk of his career
was spent as a computer engineer. In addition to his
full-time career as a computer engineer/programmer,
William became an author of two books, The Current
Intellectual World, and Philosophy and Society. He
spent many hours at Harvard University Library and
the Minuteman Library Network.
William C. Collins was cremated and buried in the
Veterans’ Cemetery in Bourne, MA.
In honor of my uncle’s passing, I would like to ask
that we each take time to hear each other’s stories,
celebrate them and if possible, plant a tree.
