Obituary

FALL RIVER… Donald Souza, 64 of Fall River passed away peacefully and safely at his home on March 22, 2022.

Born in Fall River, he was a son of the late Donald and Doris (Parent) Souza. He leaves behind his ex-wife, Debra, that to this day loves him very much. His two well rounded, courageous and brave daughters Darcy M. Cohen of Fall River and Denise R. Souza who travels full time in the converted school bus he helped build. Two very well travelled, adventurous, and empathetic grandkids McKenzie and Maxwell Cohen. His son-in-law, Jonathan Cohen. His brother, Glen F. Souza and his wife Barbara Souza of Westport, nieces Megan and Sofia Souza and nephew, Glen Souza.

Although alcoholism deteriorated his mind and body in the end, we would like him to be remembered for the man we all loved and called when we needed help. Don was the guy that everyone knew in the neighborhood. The guy you called if you needed a tool or help fixing anything around your house. The guy you called if your car broke down on the side of the road, didn’t matter what time of day, he came and rescued you. He taught us girls and the grandkids that we should try to fix something before we go out and buy a new one. And he didn’t throw out much, that’s why he had three sheds. To all the neighborhood kids he was the grandpa that kept all the hot wheel batteries charged, made sure the pool was cleaned, and always had great snacks. He loved to eat and made sure his grandkids tried it all from crabs, periwinkles, clamboils, to steaks on the grill. He was quick to call his daughters’ friends his “adopted kids” and welcomed everyone into his home.

There are no services scheduled at this time but be on the lookout this summer to celebrate his life in true Don fashion!
