TEWKSBURY – Mrs. Elizabeth A. "Betty" (Bruno) West, age 90, mother of six, and resident of Tewksbury for nearly six decades, passed on April 21, 2020 peacefully at her family home in Tewksbury, where she resided with her husband and one of her sons. She was the beloved wife of her surviving husband Robert P. "Bob" West of Tewksbury, with whom she had just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary this past May.
She was born July, 1929 in Boston, one of three daughters of the late Agesilao and Alice (White) Bruno, and raised in the Roxbury and Dorchester neighborhoods of Massachusetts. Prior to her marriage she worked as a data clerk for John Hancock Insurance Company in their Boston Headquarters.
After marriage, she and her husband Bob moved to Tewksbury in 1961 to raise their family. Betty was an extremely gifted songwriter and wrote many musicals with her husband and sister that were performed locally throughout the years. She wrote and recorded music as her passion and encouraged the love of music in her sons. She was also a faithful believer in God and a true prayer warrior for her family, friends, and many others.
Besides her husband, she leaves behind her sons: Michael West of S. Sutton, NH; Robert A. West of Londonderry, NH; David (and his wife Rose) West of Nashua, NH; Daniel West of Tewksbury, MA; James (and his wife Lori) West of Sanford, NC; and William West of Tewksbury, MA. She was also the grandmother of the late Steven M. West of Wilmington, MA.
