Marc Anglin Olson, 64 of Rochester died September 12, 2011 at home after a brief illness.
He was the loving husband of 40 years to Susan J. (Raleigh) Olson.
Born in Boston, the son of the late Arthur H. and Alice M. (Anglin) Olson, he resided in Newton before moving to Rochester 10 years ago.
Mr. Olson was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Church in New Bedford and Our Lady Help of Christians in Newton.
He was the president of M.A. Olson Associates, Inc. in the electronic component industry for 32 years.
Mr. Olson was a member and past treasurer of the Beverly Yacht Club, past president and member of New England Representatives Association, member of New Bedford Civil War Council, Sippican Choral Society, New Bedford Sea Chantey Chorus, and Alewives Anonymous of Rochester. A former member of the Wellesley Country Club and the Country Club of New Bedford and a frequent volunteer for Gifts To Give.
He was an avid offshore sailor and seaman and enjoyed sailing his boat "Dancer".
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Kristen A. Flores and her husband Nelson P. and their son Matthew T. and Kerry L. Hawkins and her husband Robert M. and their son Edward A., all of Charlestown, MA; a brother, Eric Olson of Falmouth; two sisters, Leslie E. Olson of Quincy and Regina M. Gillis and her husband Col. James A. Gillis, U.S.M.C. of Dripping Springs, TX; his in-laws, Sara Raleigh and her husband Robert Kuncio, Mr. and Mrs. Marc Ross and Daniel Raleigh; and many nieces and nephews.
He was the brother of the late Judith T. Olson.
All are welcome to celebrate his life at his Funeral Mass on Thursday at 9 AM in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 1359 Acushnet Ave. New Bedford. Visiting hours are omitted and burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Gifts To Give, 21 Cove St. New Bedford, MA 02744 or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
