Francelina (Barbosa) Furtado, age 83, of Somerset, passed away Sep. 10, 2011. She was the wife of the late Augusto Melo Furtado. Born in Capelas, Sao Miguel, Azores, the daughter of the late Edmund and Alexandrinha (Pimental) Barbosa. Prior to retiring, Francelina worked in the Laundry Room at the Highlander Nursing Care Center, and had previously worked for Quaker Fabric. She was a parishioner of St. John of God Church.
She is survived by her children, Jose M. Furtado of Somerset, Silvestre Furtado of Toronto, Canada, Valdemira Melo, Maria Fatima Furtado, and Maria dos Anjos Homem all of Fall River, Clara Etelvina Cabral of Santo Antonio, Sao Miguel, Azores. She was the sister of Gilberta Faria of Fall River, the late Moisés Barbosa & the late Maria Helena Cabral Rogue, grandmother of 16, great grandmother of 8, and the aunt to several nieces & nephews.
Her funeral will take place from the MANUEL ROGERS & SONS FUNERAL HOME, 1521 N. Main St. Fall River on TUESDAY here at 8:00 A.M. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John of God Church at 9:00 A.M. Interment in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours MONDAY 5-9 P.M.
