Ernest J. “Zim” Fillion, Jr., 50, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday September 10, 2011 at home.
Born in Attleboro, MA on July 8, 1961 he was dear son of Ernest J., Sr. and Joan F. (Donahue) Fillion of Norton
Zim grew up in Norton, was educated in Norton public schools and was a 1979 graduate of Norton High School.
Most recently, Zim had been employed as a truck driver and welder for the S M Lorusso Sand & Gravel Co. in East Weymouth. He had formerly worked for many years at the Fireguard Sprinklers Co. in Hingham.
His son Michael, was the focal point of his life. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially with his nephew Charlie, whom he was a father figure too.
An avid Harley Davidson enthusiast, Zim was the proud owner of a Harley Davidson Fat Boy motorcycle. His other hobbies included junking cars with his brother Hank.
In addition to his dear parents, he is survived by his devoted son; Michael E. Fillion of Attleboro. He was the loving brother of Hank A. Fillion and his wife Linda of Norton, Denise M. Mueller of Mansfield and Debra A. Fillion of Norton. He was the cherished uncle of Charles E. Mueller of South Attleboro and Kathleen A. Fillion , Kelly Ann Fillion and David McDermott all of Norton, and the adoring great uncle of Collin Mueller and Dillan Mueller both of Norton. Zim is also survived by many aunts, uncles, cousins, friends and his former wife Diane McDermott of Norton.
His funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Friday September 16th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday September 15th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Zim’s family has requested that donations in his memory be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942 www.stjude.org
