Obituary

Wilson J. Wells, 88, of 708 Mount Cross Road, and formerly of 2215 Spencer Street, died Friday,
September 9, 2011 at Roman Eagle Memorial Home. Born in Pittsylvania County on July 26, 1923, he was the son of the late William A. Wells, Sr. and Maebud Wilson Wells. He was married to Edith Smith Wells who predeceased him. He was a member of First Pentecostal Holiness Church and the American Legion Post 325. He was a veteran of the US Army serving during WWII. He was a prisoner of war and served under the 3rd Army with General Patton. He retired from Wyatt Buick Auto Sales after 42 years of service.

Mr. Wells is survived by one daughter, Jennifer Wells Motley of Danville; one brother, W. A. "Bill" Wells, Jr. of Bracey, Va, and one sister, Lila W. McGee of Whiteville, NC; also three grandchildren, Sarah Elizabeth Motley, Eric James Motley and Zachery Garland Motley and two great-grandchildren,
Natalie Hope Rouse and Mackenzie Faith Rouse.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by a son, Jimmie R. Wells, two brothers, Paul Wells
and Stokes Wells, and three sisters, Belva W. Elliott, Glena W. Stephens, and Garnett W. Pompeo.

Funeral services for Mr. Wells, officated by the Rev. Joe Beck and the Rev. Myron Bruce, will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. at Barker Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park with Military Honors given by the American Legion Dan River Post 1097 Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at Barker Funeral Home Chapel one hour prior to the service. At other times they will be at the home of his daughter, Jennifer Motley, at 121 Elizabeth Street.
