Michael Earl Rutherford, 55, of Ocilla, Georgia died Friday, September 9, 2011, at his residence.
Funeral services will be private.
Mr. Rutherford was born August 1, 1956 in Ocilla, Georgia to the late Dr. Earle and Barbara Ellis Rutherford. He was a 1974 graduate of Irwin County High School and was awarded a football scholarship to Tulane University. He also attended the University of Georgia. Growing up he attended Ocilla United Methodist Church. Mr. Rutherford was a heavy equipment operator for Kelly Wynn.
He is survived by daughters and son-in-law: Sara and Rick Padgett of Fitzgerald and Michelle Rabe of Minneapolis, Minnesota; Brother: Bill Rutherford of Ocilla; Sister: Martha R. Lewis of Easley, SC; grandchildren: Kacie Padgett, Austin Padgett, Kyra Padgett, Kadyn Padgett, Khloe Parker, Cole Rabe and Kade Rabe.
