TURNER - Mary L. Turner, 75, affectionately known as “Miss Mary,” passed away Friday morning, September 9, 2011.
She was born October 28, 1935 in Coffee County, GA and moved to Fernandina Beach 55 years ago. She was a member of the Journey Church in Fernandina Beach. Miss Mary worked at the Kangaroo store (formerly Little Champ) on Old Nassauville Road for 35 years. She was a loving, caring person who never met a stranger. She loved to cook, crochet and grow flowers. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Thaddeus John Turner of St. Marys, GA; two daughters, Bobbie Kay Sutton, of Fernandina Beach, FL and Vickie Turner-Wortman, also of Fernandina Beach; seven grandchildren, 13 grandchildren and the many friends and acquaintances she met over the years while working at the Nassauville Kangaroo store.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 13, in the Stephens Chapel at Green Pine Funeral Home with Rev. Ben Hall officiating. Interment will follow in Green Pine Cemetery. The family will receive fiends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
