Claude Lee Freeman, Jr., age 80, passed from this life on, Sunday, September 4, 2011 at his home in Water Valley, MS surrounded by his family. He was born November 25, 1930 in Leland, MS to the late Claude Lee Freeman, Sr. and Addie Mae Bell Freeman. He retired from Universal Steel of Grenada MS after many years. He was a long time member of Chapel Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and chairman of the church usher board. Claude was a humble Christian man that loved his church, and family. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and spoiling his family.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 10, 2011 from 12:00 Noon until 1:00 PM at Spring Hill North MB Church in Water Valley, MS. The funeral service will be held immediately following the visitation at 1:00 PM at Spring Hill Church with Rev. Jerome Battle officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Ridge City Cemetery with Shedlia Freeman, Ronnell Drane, Nigel Crawford, Jimmy Wright, James Johnson and Sonny Logan serving as pallbearers. John Thomas Freeman, Hubert George, Derrick Crawford, Tommy Lee Thomas, Carl Draper, Hersie Pegues and Melvin Farrow will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Claude is survived by his wife of sixty-one years, Mable Jones Freeman of Water Valley, MS; three daughters, Martha Crawford of Oxford, MS, Patricia Ann George (Hubert) of Shreveport, LA and Gloria Ann Freeman of Water Valley, MS; one brother, John Thomas Freeman of Detroit, MI; six grandchildren, Derrick Crawford, Chandra Draper (Carl), Rachelle Pegues (Hersie), Angela Freeman, Krystl and Kristi George; and six great grandchildren, Nigel Crawford, Kalesha Crawford, Audreyanna Crawford, Raven Thomas, Jayden Thomas, and Bricen Pegues.
He was preceded in death by a son, Oscar Freeman; three sisters, Barnett Sims, Maudie Jean Logan and Lillie Mae Hilliard; and one brother, Clay V. Freeman, Sr.
