Robert P. Lovely, Sr., 86

Dateline: Marstons Mills

Robert P. Lovely, Sr., 86, of Marstons Mills, formerly of West Yarmouth and Mansfield, passed away on Tuesday September 6, 2011 at the Pleasant Bay Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Brewster. He was the beloved husband of Mary B. (Brogna) Lovely, to whom he was wed on June 1, 1946.
Born in Brockton, MA on April 19, 1925, he was a son of the late Frederick and Mary (Stay) Lovely.
Bob grew up and was educated in Mansfield, and had attended Monsignor James Coyle High School in Taunton. He proudly served his country during WWII in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged with the rank of T/5 on April 8, 1946.
Mr. Lovely was the owner of the New World Packaging Co., a business he operated for 20 years in Marstons Mills. He had formerly been employed at the former Mansfield Bleachery in Mansfield and at the former Defiance Bleachery in Norton.
A resident of Marstons Mills for the past 11 years, he had formerly made his home in West Yarmouth for 19 years.
While living in Mansfield, Bob was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church. He was a model train enthusiast and treasured the times spent in the presence of his loving family.
In addition to his beloved wife of 65 years, he is survived by his devoted children; Christopher L. Lovely of West Palm Beach, Florida, Laurie L. Lovely of Marstons Mills and the late Robert P. Lovely, Jr.. He was predeceased by his siblings and is also survived by his cherished grandchildren; Mark, Daniel and Seth Lovely and great grandchildren; Joshua, Ashlyn and Jonathon Lovely.
Private graveside services were held on Friday September 9th at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Mansfield.
A Memorial Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Monday September 12th at 10:30 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 330 Pratt St. (Route 106) Mansfield.
Visitation has been omitted and those wishing may remember Mr. Lovely with a donation in his memory made to the Hospice & Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
