Ernest L. Yarbrough, 71, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Friday, September 2, 2011, at Dorminy Medical Center.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, September 4, 2011, in the Evergreen Cemetery with Dr. Lloyd Stembridge & Rev. Harris Johnson officiating. The body will lie-in-state at the funeral home Saturday evening and the family will receive friends Sunday at the funeral home one hour before the service.
Mr. Yarbrough was born March 14, 1940 in Irwin County to the late Horace V. Yarbrough and the late Eudell Watson Reed. He grew up in Irwin County, graduating from Irwin County High School. Mr. Yarbrough served in the Georgia Army National Guard. He was a former employee of H.R. Kaminsky & Sons, SWS Garment Company and Y&W Sportswear. Mr. Yarbrough was a former resident of Brunswick where he worked for Seaboard Construction Co. He was a member of Arp Baptist Church and an avid hunter and fisherman who enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife: Linda Luke Yarbrough of Fitzgerald; daughter & son-in-law: Lisa Yarbrough & Ronald “Rock” Jones of Fitzgerald; son: Lee Yarbrough of Fitzgerald; grandchildren: Kyle (Kayla) Griffin, Ryan Griffin, Keri Joiner, Leah Yarbrough, Jake Jones and Casey Jones; great grandson: Kaden Griffin; stepmother: Patsy Yarbrough of Lands Crossing; brothers: Donald (Ann) Yarbrough of Snellville, Julian (Dianne) Yarbrough, Oliver (Sally) Bryan and Barry (Beth) Yarbrough, all of Fitzgerald; sisters: Dianne (James) Kelley of Hogansville, Kay (Lewis) Fussell of Fitzgerald and Margaret (Russell) Batten of Perry, FL as well as several nieces and nephews.
