Wanda Gayle Tillery, 57, of Omega died Friday, September 2, 2011, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, September 5, 2011, at Omega Baptist Church. Rev. Greg Hester and Rev. Terry Smith will officiate with burial to follow in Omega Cemetery. Frankie Hall, Ernest Harris, Steve Arrington, Dennis Arrington, Brandon Tucker, Tim Brenneman, Don Hickey and Bruce Tillery will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 4, 2011, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
Ms. Tillery was born on April 12, 1954 in Tift County and was the daughter of James Tillery and Hazel Smith Tillery, both deceased. She was retired from the University of Georgia Experiment Station in the Plant Pathology Department after 25 years and was a member of Omega Baptist Church. She loved and cared for her family and her beloved cats.
Ms. Tillery is survived by one sister, Rhonda Tillery of Omega; one brother and sister-in-law, Randall and Karen Tillery of Tifton; a niece, Kaylee Tillery; a nephew, Brandon Tucker; and a very special aunt, Lydia Fagan of Piedmont, Alabama.
