C.J. "Bob" Nadeau

.....Tewksbury resident since 1953

TEWKSBURY - Clarence J. ‘Bob' Nadeau, aged 91 died February 18th. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary E. (Power) Nadeau.

He was born in Cambridge on September 21, 1912, the son of the late Thomas and Annie (Morin).

Bob served his country in WWII as a munitions assembler at Hingham from 1941 to 1943, and in the US Army from 1944 to 1946, as a PFC in the Signal Corps, European Theatre of Operations. He derved as an interpreter based in France and Belgium. He held the Battle of the Bulge Ribbon and was part of the Normandy invasion forces.

He was a long time member of the Disabled American Veterans of Tewksbury post 110.

As a bookbinder he worked for The Boston Book Company, Little, Brown and Co. and the Plimpton Press. Later he worked at Sweetheart Plastics in Wilmington and then retired.

He was a founding member of the Men's Choir of St. Dorothy's Church, Wilmington, where he also served as an usher and bowled for the parish team. He held a championship Class I trophy in the Mass. State Horseshoe Championships and was a keen rollerskater until the age of 83.

He is survived by four children Jeanne L. and her partner Sue Sanders of London, England, Kathleen and her husband Robert F. Moriarty of Lowell, John R. and his wife Ann Marie (Martin) of Arlington, William T. and his wife Joni (Ryan) of Billerica; 10 grandchildren, Kathleen (Moriarty) Wetterwald, Kristen (Nadeau) Cornila, Robert Moriarty Jr., Daniel Moriarty, Erica L. Nadeau, Amy J. Nadeau, Patrick J. Moriarty, Ann Marie Brophy, Walter Nadeau and Kerry Pinto; and 10 great-grandchildren, Emma and Mason Cornila, Patrick "PJ" and Aedan Moriarty, Patrick, Kelly, Megan, Kaitlyn, Thomas Brophy, Kassandra Wetterwald. He is also survived by his sisters and brothers-in-law Louise A Power, Margaret "Peggy" Power, Joseph P. Lenox Jr. and Albert J. and Rita Power, and many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded by four brothers, Lawrence, Edmund, Thomas, and George Nadeau and four sisters Emma Broulliard, Clare Gascon, Claudia O'Neill, Lorraine Lenox.

His Funeral Mass was held Monday, Feb. 23, in St. Dorothy's Church, Wilmington. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation 220 Main St. Natick, MA 01760 will be appreciated.
