Richard A. "Dick" Miller, age 76, of Groton, passed away Wednesday at his home.
Mr. Miller was born in Hartford on November 6, 1934 the son of Peter and Petrone (Rauskauskas) Miller.
He was a graduate of the University of Connecticut where he received his Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. He later graduated as a Master Gardener.
He was employed at Electric Boat for 32 years, retiring as Engineering Chief in 1992.
Dick was married to Jane E. Carroll Miller in Glastonbury on June 22, 1957 and they enjoyed 54 years of marriage. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Raymond J. (Caren) Miller of Mystic, Susan C. (Al) Miller of Martha’s Vineyard, and Michelle M. “Shelly” (Joel) Orban of Korea; 2 sisters-in-law, Lee Neilson and Betty Ann Miller; a brother-in-law, Tom Nielson; 6 grandchildren, nieces, nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
His family will greet relatives and friends at The Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl Street, Historic downtown Mystic on Tuesday from 5-7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Mary Mother of the Redeemer Church, Groton Long Point Rd., Groton on Wednesday at 11am. His family will gather privately for his burial on Martha’s Vineyard.
