James D. Valvo, age 39, of Salem, NH, died August 22nd at his home. Jim was born in Lawrence, MA, and grew up and was educated in Salem, NH, where he was a lifelong resident.
Jim worked as a restaurant manager and cook for area restaurants, including Chili’s, and T-Bones in Salem, NH, as well as Jillian’s and Cactus Jack’s in Manchester, NH. Jim enjoyed working out at the gym, riding his motorcycle, and especially spending time with his sister Paula Smith, her husband Dave, and his nephew and niece, Jared and Mikayla. Jim was a member of Paula’s family always and was lovingly referred to as “Jim-Jim” by the Smith children.
Jim was kind, fun loving and mischievous. The family fondly recalls “Jimmy” in his childhood when he enjoyed playing ice hockey at the lake with his buddies and performing amazing feats on his dirt bike.
Jim was the son of the late Robert J. and Joan M. (Morrison) Valvo. He is survived by his sisters, Paula and her husband David Smith, of Salem, NH, Nancy and her husband Alan LaBranche, of Londonderry, NH, his brothers, Paul Valvo, of Derry, NH, and Robert J. Valvo Jr. and his wife Donna, of Bedford, N.H. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Jared and Mikayla Smith, Eric and Marissa Lucci, and John Valvo.
Memorial calling hours will be held Saturday, September 3rd from 2-5PM at Douglas & Johnson Funeral Home, 214 Main St., Salem, NH. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
A private burial will be held at a later date at Pine Grove Cemetery in Salem, NH.
