Obituary

GROVELAND: Donald J. Olesch, 82, died Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in the Brigham Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Newburyport surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Marion L. (Fowler) Olesch with whom he shared sixty years of marriage.
Born in Little Falls, Minnesota on July 20, 1929, he was the son of the late Joseph E. and Marie E. (Chihos) Olesch. He was a graduate of Browerville High School in Minnesota and has resided in Groveland for the past sixty years. He enlisted in the U.S. Coast Guard in July 1947 and served during the Korean War before his honorable discharge as a machinist in August 1954.
Donald was employed as an engineer for many years at the Western Electric, later AT&T in North Andover, where he was a member of the CWA Retired Members Club. He retired in 1990. An avid outdoorsman, he loved fishing, hunting and was a real bird enthusiast. As a handyman, he could fix anything and enjoyed helping anyone with their projects.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Donna M. Bonin of Groveland; four grandchildren, Alethea Copelas of Groveland, Ryan McCarthy and Corey McCarthy both of Haverhill and Kurt Olesch of Maine; a great-granddaughter, Talia Copelas of Groveland. He was also predeceased by his son, Donald J. Olesch, Jr.
His funeral service will be held on Saturday in the Linnehan-Grondin Funeral Home, 129 Kenoza Avenue, Haverhill at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 9 – 11 a.m. Interment will be held in the Riverview Cemetery, Groveland.
