Virgie Griffin Taylor, 85, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Thursday, February 19, 2004 at Taylor Regional Hospital in Hawkinsville, Georgia.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 22, 2004, at the Paulk Funeral Home Chapel, Fitzgerald, Georgia with Rev. Greg Carroll officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 Saturday evening at the funeral home.
Mrs. Taylor was born September 20, 1918, in Wilcox County, Georgia, to the late Alonzo B. and Mary Byce Parks and the widow of Frank C. Taylor. She lived in the community most of her life and was a resident of Pineview Nursing Home in Wilcox County for the past five years. Mrs. Taylor was a former employee of the Monarch Company in Fitzgerald. She attended Salem Baptist Church.
Mrs. Taylor is survived by her Daughter: Laura G. Pitts, Charlotte, NC; son: C. Thomas Griffin, Miami, Fl; stepsons: Darrell, Billy and David Taylor, all of Savannah; ten grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clyde Thomas Griffin, one daughter, Ruby Lee McLeroy and six brothers.
