Lynne E. (Cotterill) Plante, 56, a lifelong resident of Mansfield, passed away in the comfort of her home, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday August 30, 2011. She was the beloved wife of Wilfred Plante, III, to whom she was wed on June 16, 1978,
Born in Attleboro, MA on July 22, 1955, she was a loving daughter of the late John T., Jr. and Barbara L. (Bourne) Cotterill.
Lynn grew up and was educated in Mansfield, and was a 1973 graduate of Mansfield High School. She continued her education and graduated from the Brockton Hospital School of Nursing, receiving her degree as a registered nurse. She furthered her studies and later graduated from Umass Dartmouth with a bachelors degree of science in nursing.
Mrs. Plante worked for over 30 years in the healthcare profession. She was a registered nurse at the former Goddard Hospital in Stoughton and more recently was the manager of Nursing & Informatics at the Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton.
When younger, she along with her family was a member of the Mansfield United Methodist Church and the Rainbow Girls in Mansfield.. Lynne was also a former member of the Mansfield Jaycees.
Her favorite times spent were those in the presence of her adoring family, especially vacationing at Disney World in Florida. She also enjoyed camping, playing cribbage and trips to Martha’s Vineyard, where she also taught CPR to members of the Martha’s Vineyard Fire Department.
In addition to her beloved husband of 33 years, she is survived by her devoted daughter; Shana L. Plante of Orlando, Florida. The dear sister of Lorraine E. Renker and her husband Richard of New York, Joanne M. Toole and her husband Patrick of Wareham, Julie L. Cotterill of Attleboro and West Tisbury Firefighter John T. Cotterill, III of Martha’s Vineyard, she is also survived by several aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews as well as her mother in law Irene Plante of Norton and her best friend Joyce Parsons of Stoughton.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday September 3rd at 5:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home, 55 North Main St., Mansfield. Burial will be held at a later date in the Spring Brook Cemetery, Mansfield.
Visiting hours will be held on Saturday afternoon prior to the services beginning at 3:00 P.M. at the Sherman & Jackson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Lynne’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Hospice and Palliative Care of Cape Cod, 765 Attucks Lane, Hyannis, MA 02601.
