Mr. Carl Virgil Ray
Augusta, GA – Entered into rest Sunday, August 28, 2011, Mr. Carl Virgil Ray, 85, husband of the late Edna E. Ray.
Mr. Ray was born in Huntersville, West Virginia and resided in the Augusta area for the past 51 years. He was a millwright for Columbia Nitrogen. Mr. Ray served in the US Air Corps from 1944 to 1947.
Family members include: sons, Carmen V. Ray (Kathy) of Augusta, Condall D. Ray (Cathy) of Augusta, daughters, Carmel J. Schlamp (Randy) of MO, Conda B. Momcilovic (Rodney) of Harlem, GA, brother, Robert B. Ray (Hilda) of Waxsaw, NC, brother-in-laws, Wiley (Buck) Walters of Rocky Mt. NC, Max Gibson of Maxwelton, WV, Robert Galford of Marlinton, WV, sister-in-laws, Berlene Long, Wenona McNeal of Augusta, Vivian Gibson of Maxwelton, WV, nine grandchildren and eight great grand children. He is predeceased by his parents, Albert B. Ray and Zula Grimes Ray Young , sister, Mary Etta Walters of Rocky Mount, NC, step-father, Lee Young, and an infant brother.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 1, 2011 at 11:00 AM in the chapel of Thomas Poteet and Son with Rev. Jim Tirko officiating. Entombment will follow in Bellevue Memorial Gardens Crypt. Honorary Escort will be the Patriot Guard Riders. Pallbearers will be family.
