Donald J. Clifford, age 74, of Marstons Mills, Waltham and West Palm Beach, FL, died on Thursday, August 25, 2011, after a long illness with a rare disease, amyloidosis.
Don was a graduate of Noble and Greenough School and Harvard College, class of 1959.
He was retired from the securities business and later was the proprietor of Party World of Watertown, which he ran with his sons.
Don was an avid golfer, a fine tennis player and former member of The Country Club in Brookline, The Duxbury Yacht Club and The Ibis Country Club in Florida.
He leaves his devoted wife, Charlene; two sons, Donald and Christopher; a daughter, Tracey and four wonderful grandchildren, Nathan, Sarah, Abigail and Adam.
Don also leaves his brothers, Stew and Fred and his late brother, Paul.
He was the son of the late Dr. Stewart H. and Ellinor B. Clifford.
A memorial service will be held at the First Parish Church, 842 Tremont Street, Duxbury, on Saturday, October 8 at 11:00 AM, followed by a reception at his family's home, 33 Water Street, Duxbury.
