
Auston Cecil Purvis, 79, of Tifton died Monday, August 29, 2011, at Tift Health Care. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Jack Perrin will officiate with burial to follow in Oak Ridge Cemetery. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 30, 2011, from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. prior to the service at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mr. Purvis was born on February 21, 1932 in Berrien County and was the son of Eddie D. Purvis and Jessie Lou Baker Purvis, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by one brother and one sister. He was a retired truck driver and attended Tifton’s First Assembly of God.
Mr. Purvis is survived by his wife, Viola Robinson McKelvey of Tifton; one step-son, Roy McKelvey of Lagrange; four sons, Warren Purvis, Jodie Purvis, Scottie Purvis and Michael Purvis; one step-daughter, Brenda Moon of Douglas; and four sisters, Hazel Gregory of Jacksonville, Florida, Evelyn Webb of Tifton; Carlene Dowdy of Tifton and Gracie Mae Baker of Tifton.
