Obituary

Mrs. Opal Allen Wolfe, age 86, of King, widow of the late James Thomas Wolfe passed away, Saturday, August 27, 2011 at Southfork Assisted Living in Winston-Salem. Opal was born September 12, 1924 to the late William Thomas and Dora Florence Wall Allen. She attended and graduated from Shoals School as Valedictorian of her class. She worked at Hanes Hosiery ~Sara Lee for 36 years until retiring then worked at Rose Tara Plantation for 14 years. Opal was a Christian lady; she joined church at the age of 8 at Pilot View Methodist Church then transferred her membership to Mt Zion United Methodist Church in Pinnacle at the age of 18 where she taught Sunday school, sang in choir and remained until her health failed. Opal was devoted to her family which loved her very much. She is survived by one loving daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Fred Yates of Siloam; two grandsons and spouse, Mark (Tammy) Rodgers of Pilot Mountain and Tracy (Heidi) Rodgers of Siloam and three step grandchildren; four great grandchildren, Carrie R. (Dennis) Thompson and James Rodgers both of Pilot Mountain, Cody and Dustin Rodgers both of Siloam; two great-great grandchildren, Cheyenne and Bryson Thompson; two brothers, Oliver William Allen of Shoals and Thomas Ray (Blanche) Allen of Winston-Salem and three sisters, Betty Jane (Jack) Jessup of Pinnacle, Evelyn A. Snyder of Winston Salem and Nancy Marie A. Joyce of Pinnacle and several nieces and nephews. She also had special neighbors, Gray and Ruth Smith which helped her over the years. In addition to her parents, husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers and one sister. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM at Mt Zion United Methodist Church, August 30, 2011 with Rev. Diane Marsden, Rev. Wayne Allen and Hospice Chaplain Craig Walker officiating with interment to follow at Mt. View Baptist in King. Mrs. Wolfe will lie in state: 30 minutes prior to the service. The family will receive family and friends on Monday, August 29, 2011 at Cox-Needham Funeral Home from 7 to 9 and other times at Opals home in King. The family would like to thank the staff at Southfork for their loving care for their loved one.
