Gene (Nick) Nichols, 82 of Clarksville went to be with the Lord, Saturday, August 27, 2011 at St. Thomas Alive Hospice in Nashville. Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 30, 2011 at the Neal-Tarpley-Parchman funeral home with Bro. Terry Brown, Bro. Chuck Cato and Chaplain John Rawtzahm officiating. Burial will be at Resthaven Memorial Gardens with full military honors. Visitation will held Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. and Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
Gene was born August 24, 1929 in Cedar Creek, MO. He was the son of the late Jim and Rosie Nichols. He was retired U.S. Army serving in both Korean Conflict and Vietnam War. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #89 and a former member of the St. Bethlehem Civitian Club.
Survivors include his wife Betty Taylor Nichols of Clarksville. Three sons; Michael Eugene Nichols (Teresa), Jeffrey Dean Chandler (Lesa), Jason Scott Chandler (Jill), two daughters; Kimberly Rose Nichols, Pamela Ann Griffin (Tom), one brother; James Walter Nichols, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son; Barry Wayne Nichols, and a daughter Ellen Christine Nichols.
Palllbearers will be Carl Parsons, Robert Claxton, Craig Cornejo, Brandon Cornejo, Dallas Burns, Danny Harris, Ronnie Manners and Tim Bakos.
