Obituary

Pauline Grant Word, 89, of Windham, NH, formerly of Nutley, NJ, died Wednesday, August 24, 2011 at Windham Terrace Assisted Living in Windham, NH. She was born in Louisiana on September 26, 1921, the daughter of the late James A. and Merle (Greene) Grant. She was a resident of Windham for the past six years. Pauline was a proofreader and retired many years ago from The Newark Star Ledger in Newark, NJ. She is survived by a daughter, Carolyn Max of Windham, NH, and two sons, James T. Word of Williamsburg, VA, and Thomas L. Word of Denham Springs, LA; four grandchildren and six great grandchildren; a brother Wayne Grant, and two sisters, Dorothy Edgerly and Gail Akin. She was predeceased by her husband, James T. Word, Sr., and her brothers, Glenn and Donald Grant.
Pauline was a loving woman and an avid NY Yankees fan, who also enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles. The family would like to thank the staff at Windham Terrace for their extraordinary care and compassion.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, August 31, at 11am at The Cemetery on the Plain, Ministerial Road, Windham, NH.
