John J. Irvine Jr., 76, of Hudson, died Thursday, Aug. 25th at Marlboro Hospital. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty M. (Archambeault) Irvine of Hudson.
John was born and raised in Marlboro, son of the late John J. Irvine Sr. and Fabiola M. (Scott) Irvine. He was a graduate of the Immaculate Conception Grammer School and later was a graduate of Saint Viators Catholic High School for boys. He received his Bachelor’s Degree from Northeastern University in Boston.
John served his country as a Special Intelligence Officer with the U.S. Army during the Cold War and was a long time CEO and Vice President of the former Hudson Co-operative Bank. He was the youngest Bank CEO in Massachusetts at one time. He was a member of the former Marlboro Redskins and Clinton semi-pro football teams and also an avid fan of the Marlboro Shamrocks. He was a member and former President of the Hudson Rotary Club, former President of the L.D. Apsley Fund, Active member of the Hudson Industrial Commission, former board member of the Hudson Public Library, member of Saint Michael’s Parish and life member of the Hudson Lodge of Elks.
Besides his wife, he is survived by his two children, John Robert Irvine and his wife Kristina of Quaker Town, PA and Tracy A. Wesinger and her husband John of Hudson. He is also survived by his sister, Lucille Lambert of Grafton; 6 grandchildren, Allyssa, Daniel, Nicole and Thomas Irvine, Sarah and Seth Wesinger and his many nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Lorraine Morgan.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, Aug. 29th from 9:00 to 10:45 a.m. at the Tighe-Hamilton Funeral Home, Inc. 50 Central Street, Hudson, MA 01749 followed by a funeral mass at 11:00 a.m. in Saint Michael’s Church, 21 Manning Street, Hudson. Burial will follow in Forestvale Cemetery, Hudson.
