Obituary

METHUEN - Robert Becket Walker 90 died Wednesday morning at the Nevins Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Methuen, MA.
Born in Lawrence, he was the son of Arthur and Eva (Becket) Walker. He attended Lawrence grammar schools, graduated Lawrence High School Class of 1939, Haverhill Trade School and also Franklin Technical Institute in Boston, MA. He served in the U.S. Army during world War II and was honorably discharged on December 6, 1945. Robert was a tinsmith for 14 years in the Pacific Mills in Lawrence, a sheet metal worker for 14 years at Avco Corp, and for 24 years at Bon Secours now Holy Family Hospital, retiring in March 1997.
He was a member of St. Augustine’s Episcopal Church in Lawrence, MA. A life member of the 836th Engineer AVN BN Association, V.F.W. Post 1549, V.F.W. National Home, the American Legion Post 122 in Methuen, MA, AARP and the Holy Family Men’s Guild. Robert was a simple, hardworking gentleman. He was the consummate family man. He was happiest with his anchor and soul mate, his wife Celia by his side. It was with celia that he had his “Heaven on earth”. Together they enjoyed traveling and spending time with their family at Wells Beach ME.
He leaves his wife of 43yrs, which they would have celebrated on September 14th Madeline C. ( Furneaux ) Walker of Methuen, MA. He is survived by his two daughters Jean Tearno of Methuen, MA, Eileen Magnuson and her husband John of Melbourne, FL.
Grandchildren Larry Scannell, Sean Scannell, Kathy Clayton and her husband Matt, Laury Cote and her husband Steve Carl Tearno and his wife Nikki and Amy (Magnuson) Dascanio.
Great-grandchildren Amanda and Zack Cote, Walker and Celia Budwig-Scannell, Jonathan and Madison Covert, Lily and Gianna Tearno and Ryan Dascanio
Many nieces and nephews.
Robert was pre-deceased by his daughter Ann Scannell and his brother Vincent Walker.
ARRANGEMENTS: In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Lucy’s Parish 254 Merrimack St. Methuen, MA 01844. or to the American Cancer Society 30 Speen St. Framingham, MA 01710. Family and friends may call on Sunday from 2:00p.m. – 5:00p.m. at the Kenneth H. Pollard Funeral Home, Inc., 233 Lawrence Street Methuen, MA 01844. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Bellevue Cemetery in Lawrence, MA.
