Arthur J. Armstrong- 78 of Marshfield, born and raised in Weymouth, MA. Arthur attended UMass Stockbridge Agricultural School prior to being drafted into the US army. He was most proud of his service in the Korean Conflict as a member of the military police. Arthur was a loyal employee of Polaroid for 28 years, and took early retirement to work with his two sons at Armstrong Fence Co. He was known for his quick wit and big heart. The ultimate Mr. Gadget, Arthur had a passion for reconstructing almost anything he could get his hands on, convinced he would make a better mouse-trap.
He is survived by the love of his life, after 57 years of marriage, Claire (O’Neill). The ultimate father to Gail Taylor and her husband, Brian; Paul Armstrong and his wife, Clare (Babineau); and David Armstrong and his wife, Catherine (Cilento). He adored his grandchildren, Nicholas and his wife Krissy, James, Megan, Grace, Rose, David, Olivia, John, Harrison and Papa’s sweetheart Julia. He was also blessed to have been a great grandfather to Sophie.
Funeral from the MacDonald Funeral Home 1755 Ocean St Rte 139 Marshfield Tuesday at 9:00 am followed by a Funeral Mass in St Christine's Church 1095 Main St Marshfield at 10:00 am.
Visiting hours Monday Aug 29, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.
Interment will be in the Marshfield Hills Cemetery.
