Sharon Connell Parsons Weitala, 55, of Tifton died Thursday, August 25, 2011, at her residence. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 27, 2011, in the Chapel of Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals. Rev. Jimmie Hinson will officiate with burial to follow in Lenox Cemetery. Her son, Derek Parson, other family members and friends will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 26, 201, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Bowen-Donaldson Home for Funerals.
Mrs. Weitala was born on September 22, 1955 in Adel and was the daughter of Roy Charles Connell, Sr. and Inez Pat Barber Callahan, both deceased. She was also preceded in death by her daughter, Brittany Nicole Parsons, who died November 23, 2010; and one sister, Tammy Lynn Lenz, who died in 2002. She was a housewife and devoted her life to her family, especially to her daughter and granddaughter. She was also devoted to providing a home for her husband. She had lived her entire life in Tifton.
Mrs. Weitala is survived by her husband, Rod Weitala of Tifton; one son, Derek Parsons of Tifton; two brothers, Kenny Connell and Charles Connell, both of Tifton; one granddaughter, Shyan Parsons of Tifton; and her step-father, Charles Callahan of Tifton.
