Obituary

John F. Rogers, 45 of Truro died unexpectedly at his home on Friday August 19, 2011. Born in Boston he was the son of Linda (Corea) Rogers and the late Francis E. Rogers. Mr. Rogers spent the first 18 years of his life in Provincetown. He was a graduate of Provincetown High School. From an early age he enjoyed fishing with his father. He spent as much time as possible outdoors engaged in various sports. He would approach each challenge in life as an opportunity. He lived life with a positive attitude. Whether it was baseball, fishing, sailing, hockey water skiing or golf, he excelled, often winning awards or trophies. When playing sports as in his life his philosophy was that it didn't matter how long it took to learn something new, but to do your best and eventually you will be good at it.
While living in Provincetown he had numerous jobs. He moved to Boston for about 8 years and then to Omaha, Nebraska where he lived for 17 years. While living in Nebraska he worked close by in Council Bluffs, Iowa where he sold cars including Chevrolet, Nissan and Kia. He moved back to Cape Cod approximately 18 months ago and went to work as a salesman for Balise Ford in Hyannis. He was a member of the Knights Of Columbus, Walter Welsh Council No 2746 in Provincetown. He also attended St. Peter the Apostle Church with his brother and niece every Sunday and found his renewed faith to be a great source of comfort and strength. John lived his life and became an accomplished athlete with only one arm. He had strong convictions with regard to perseverance, but at a golf tournament recently when he was paired with an Iraq Vet who had been severely injured, he gained a new perspective of how fortunate he really was.

Besides his mother he is survived by his 2 daughters, Heather Pensick and Ashley Rogers of Omaha, his brother Michael Rogers and his family of Truro, his 2 aunts and 2 uncles and 4 cousins. He was the former husband of Erin Shafer.

A funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. :Peter the Apostle Church 11 Prince St. Provincetown on Thursday August 25, 2011 at 9:00am.
