Grace H. (Dahlberg) Allen, 93, of Norton, passed away on Monday August 22, 2011 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Norton. She was the beloved wife of the late Floyd E. Allen.
Born in Dedham, MA on April 3, 1918, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Elna (Newman) Dahlberg.
Grace moved to Norton as a young child. She was educated in Norton public schools and was a 1935 graduate of Norton High School.
After marry her late husband, she moved to Taunton where she lived for eight years. Grace later returned to Norton and had been a town resident for the past 62 years.
Prior to retiring, Mrs. Allen had worked for 21 years at the Kilburn Glass Company in the Chartley section of Norton. Grace was an avid reader and Boston Red Sox fan, and enjoyed family gatherings.
She was the devoted mother of Kenneth E. Allen and his wife Maureen of Norton and the late Christine E. Burke. The sister of the late Anna C. Adair, Mae V. Elliot, Gladys Venne, Herbert C. Dahlberg and Walter H. Dahlberg, Mrs. Allen is also survived by her loving grandchildren Marie D. Manthe of Kansas, Lee A. Burke of Attleboro, Stacey A. Allen of Cambridge and Kelly E. Allen of Norton, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Saturday August 27th at 11:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visitation will be held on Saturday morning prior to the services beginning at 9:00 A.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, Grace’s family has requested that donations in her memory be made to the Norton Public Library, 68 East Main St., Norton, MA 02766.
