Freda (Peters) Thomas, 81, of New Bedford died Tuesday February 12, 2002 unexpectedly at home. She was the wife of the late Isaac J. Thomas, and daughter of the late George and Kaffa (Dumas) Peters.
Mrs. Thomas was born in New Bedford and had lived in New Bedford for most of her life.
She was a communicant of Our Lady of Purgatory Church.
Mrs. Thomas was formerly employed as a receptionist for Sullivan & Foster and at the former Union Hospital.
Survivors include 2 sons, George I. Thomas, and his wife Karen, of Rochester, and Isaac J. Thomas, Jr., and his wife Colleen, of Dartmouth; 2 daughters, Sandra E. Bouramia, and her husband Joseph, of Dartmouth, and Rebekah Tomlinson, and her husband David, of Acushnet; 9 sisters, Sr. Mary Rose Peters, RSM, of Bristol, RI, Anne Abraham of Washington State, and Cecile Attalah, Emily Alves, Theresa Coury, Octavia David, Louise Dupre, Mary Ann Chomak and Norma Thomas, all of New Bedford; 6 grandchildren, Kelli Tomlinson, Kaitlyn Tomlinson, Ymane Bouramia, Nayla Bouramia, Alex Bouramia and Nadia Bouramia; and many nieces and nephews. She was the sister of the late Mary Barckett.
Funeral from the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New BedfordFriday February 15, 2002 at 9 AM.Divine Liturgy at Our Lady of Purgatory Church at 10 AM.Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Thursday February 14, 2002 from 5-9 PM.
