Obituary

Eugene A. Quinlan, Sr. 76 years, of Brockton, died August 18, 2011 at the VA Medical Center of West Roxbury following a brief illness. He was the husband of Joanne (Grasso) Quinlan. Born, raised and educated in Plympton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Ethel (Squires) Quinlan. During the Korean Conflict he was stationed in Germany with the US Army. Gene was the former owner of Rapid Line Express in Brockton and before his retirement in 2005 he was employed in the transportation industry. He was a member of Ireland’s Own and enjoyed many trips to Ireland. He was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan, enjoyed gardening and history, and loved time spent with his family.

He is also survived by his children Kevin Quinlan and his wife Olga of Taunton, Elizabeth Balestrero and her husband Leo of Manchester, NH, Karen Downey and her husband Brian of Hanson, Stephen Quinlan and his wife Gina of Pittsburgh, Eugene A. Quinlan Jr. and his wife Michele of Hanson and Nancy Quinlan of Brockton; seven grandchildren Meaghan and Patrick Downey, Sean, Conor, Joseph and Jackson Quinlan, and Logan Ringer Quinlan. He also leaves 17 nieces and nephews.

Visiting Hours will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Tuesday 4-8pm. The funeral procession will gather at the funeral home Wednesday at 9am followed by a Funeral Mass in Christ The King Parish at 10am. Burial in Pine Hill Cemetery, West Bridgewater.
