Mrs. Stacie Bernice Reid Joyner, age 92, widow of the late Eugene Leake Joyner, of Ararat, NC, passed away on Wednesday, August 17, 2011 at Forsyth Medical Center. She was born on January 16, 1919 in Surry County, to the late Jessie Martin and Minnie Etta Evans Reid. Mrs. Joyner worked as a Nursing Assistant at Northern Hospital of Surry County and was a member of Pine Hill Friends Church. Mrs. Joyner is survived by two sons and daughter-in-law, Eugene and Dorothy Joyner of Dobson and Ronnie Reid and Sharon Joyner of Crawfordville, FL; four grandchildren, Sharon Joyner-Payne (TJ Payne) of Pilot Mountain, NC, Donald Joyner (Sue Joyner) of Dobson, Neal Joyner of Dobson and Ronnie Joyner II (Lisa) of Crawfordville, FL; three step great-grandchildren; five great-grandchildren, Weston Payne of Pilot Mountain, Cassidy Joyner of Dobson, Whitney Joyner of Dobson, Reid Joyner, III of Crawfordville, FL and Kinsey Joyner of Crawfordville, FL; and five step great-grandchildren Mrs. Joyner was preceded in death by her husband; parents; 16 brothers and sisters; and one great-grand daughter, Bailey Addison Payne. Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, August 20, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Pine Hill Friends Church with the Rev. Michael Thames officiating with interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends on Friday, August 19, 2011 from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Cox-Needham Funeral Home.
