WORCESTER-Theodore P. Vasos, 80, of 144 Russell Street died Wednesday, October 17th in Holy Trinity Nursing and Rehabilitation Center after an illness. He leaves his wife of 55 years, Ourania (Dionis) Vasos, 2 daughters Betty wife of James Peltekis of Marlboro and Sandra wife of Nicholas Tambouratzakis of Worcester; a brother in Greece; 5 grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
He was born in Longo, N. Epirus, Greece son of Petros and Alexandra Vasos and moved to this country 70 years ago. Mr. Vasos was a WWII Army veteran serving in Normandy. Mr. Vasos once owned Drake’s Candy Shop in Worcester, Duffy’s Diner in Milford and the Night Owl Restaurant in Millbury. He also managed the former Phillip’s Supermarket Restaurant in Whitinsville, he retired in 1971. He was an ice skating instructor and boxer before WWII. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, the Order of AHEPA and served as Chairman of its Health Committee.
The funeral service will be Saturday, October 20th from O’Connor Brothers Funeral Home, 592 Park Avenue, with a service at 10:00 AM in St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday, October 19th from 4:00 until 8:00 PM in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 102 Russell Street, Worcester, MA 01609-1908.
