Louis Vacca, of Pembroke Pines, FL and Stoneham died Tuesday at the Winchester Hospital. He was 87.
Mr. Vacca was born in Mirabello Eclano, Avellino, Italy, the son of the late Michele and the late Rosa (Rossetti) Vacca and came to the United States with his family when he was 13. He worked with his father and brother operating their business, Fleet Fruit in Boston. Louis served in the Army during World War II and participated in combat in Normandy, France where he was wounded. He was awarded the Purple Heart, two Bronze Stars with Oak Leave Clusters. After his discharge, Lou returned to work with his family until his retirement in the early 1980’s. Louis was devoted to his family and enjoyed wintering with his wife in Florida. Lou was a member of the Knights of Columbus #10230 in Davie, Fla.
The beloved husband of the late Helen (Brescia) Vacca, he was a devoted father of Donna Lizak and her husband Matthew of North Smithfield, RI, Michael Vacca and his wife Leona of Merrimack, NH, Linda Cross and her husband David of Davie, FL. He was a loving grandfather of Jessica, Marisa, Jonathan, Kaitlin, Christin and a dear brother of RoseMarie Buccieri and Anna Roberto, both of Medford, the late Angelina D’Orsi and Antonio Vacca.
His funeral will be from the Dello Russo Funeral Home, 306 Main St., Medford, Saturday, August 20th at 9 AM followed by a funeral mass celebrated in St. Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham, at 10 AM. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend. Visiting hours Friday from 4 thru 8 PM. Services will conclude with burial at Oak Grove Cemetery,
