Barbara "Elaine" Jop, age 63

TEWKSBURY, MA: Barbara "Elaine" (Demers) Jop, age 63, a resident of Tewksbury for 31 years, formerly of Andover, MA, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2011, with her family by her side, at the Kaplan Family Hospice House in Danvers, following a courageous battle with cancer.
She was the beloved wife of Robert S. Jop, with whom she celebrated their 31st wedding anniversary on June 28, 2011.
Born in Lawrence on September 13, 1947, she was the daughter of the late Robert T. Demers and the late Barbara (Ferrier) Demers.
Elaine was raised in Andover, attended Andover schools and graduated from Andover High School in 1965.
Prior to her illness, she was employed as a Senior Materials Analyst by Lucent Technologies in North Andover, where she worked for 32 years.
Elaine was the former Vice President and Union Steward of Local # 1366 and was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.
She enjoyed sewing, knitting, playing scrabble, caring for her pets and selflessly attending to the needs of others.
In addition to her husband, Elaine is survived by one daughter, Aimee (Demers)Thibodeau and her husband Joseph of Sherman Mills, ME; one brother, Robert A. Demers of Lowell; one sister, Dianne (Demers) Rein of Manchester, NH; also many nieces and nephews.
Elaine was the sister of the late Theodore R. "Ted" Demers.
Calling hours will be held Friday, Aug. 19, from 4-8 p.m., at the Farmer & Dee Funeral Home, 16 Lee St., Tewksbury. Her funeral will be Saturday, Aug. 20, at 10 a.m., from the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Robert Bellarmine Church, 198 Haggetts Pond Rd., Andover. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the Lowell V.N.A. Hospice, 336 Central St., Lowell, MA 01852 or to the M.S.P.C.A , Nevins Farm, 400 Broadway, Methuen, MA 01844.
