Lt. Gary E. Raymond, 59, of Englewood, FL died Sunday, August 14, 2011 at the Venice Regional Medical Center in Venice, FL following a six year courageous battle with Multiple Myeloma. Gary was surrounded by his loving family. Gary was born February 15, 1952 in Goffstown, NH, the son of the late Wilfred E. and the late Theresa (Dulude) Raymond. He resided in both Derry, NH and Englewood, FL. He retired from the Derry Fire Department as a lieutenant in December of 2000 after 26 years of dedicated service to the Town of Derry. He was a member of the International Association of Fire Fighters, The Professional Fire Fighters’Association of NH, Local 2620 and Local 3834. Gary was a devoted NASCAR fan and enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating and camping and cherished his time with his family and grandchildren.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 39 years, Lynn (Grabowski) Raymond who bravely walked by Gary’s side everyday to fight his courageous struggle with cancer, one daughter, Erica L. Raymond, of Englewood, FL, one son, Gary J. Raymond, of Derry, NH, two grandsons, Tian and Logan of Englewood, FL, and his brother, Mark Raymond of Derry, NH. He also enjoyed a very close relationship with his father-in-law, Joseph E. Grabowski of Englewood, FL and his brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Calling hours were Thursday, August 18, 2011 from 4:00 - 8:00 at the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch St., Derry, NH. A mass of Christian burial was celebrated Friday at 10:00am at St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 26 Crystal Ave., Derry. Burial followed in Forest Hill Cemetery, East Derry.
