Obituary

Millbury - Henry Roland Rosen passed away Monday, August 15, 2011, in Millbury Health Care Center at the age of 92. He was born in Millbury, the oldest surviving son of the late Walter and Alma (Bernas) Rosen. Henry leaves three sisters, Bertha Campbell and her husband Vincent Campbell, Bernice Roach, and Edna Crouse and her husband Lowell A. Crouse; sister-in-law, Ursula Rosen (Mrs. Robert); and many nieces and nephews. Henry was predeceased by his brothers Carl, Robert, and John Walter Rosen and sister Gertrude Morin.

As a young man, Henry worked with the C.C.C. - The Civilian Conservation Corps., in Maine, cutting down trees. He attended schools in Worcester. Henry enlisted in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He proudly served on the USS Lejeune, a luxury-liner confiscated from the Germans and acquired from Brazil. Henry made 19 crossings of the Atlantic Ocean transporting U.S. troops. After the service, Henry worked at the Henry Hanson Co. in Worcester. In later years, Henry moved to Millbury where he lived until his passing. Henry was a wonderful brother and friend to many.

Calling hours will be held at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, 300 Lincoln Street, Worcester, Thursday, August 18, from 6-8 p.m. The funeral service will be at Nordgren Memorial Chapel, Friday, August 19, at 10:00 a.m. Burial with military honors will follow in Worcester County Memorial Park, Paxton.
