Mrs. Susan Ruth Allen, age 95, of Pinnacle, went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 12, 2011 at Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson. She was born on February 13, 1916 in Surry County to the late Joseph Silas and Sarah Jane Fulk. Mrs. Allen loved her children, reading her Bible, and attended Pinnacle View Baptist Church. Mrs. Allen is survived by her loving husband of 71 years, O.W. Allen, of the home; three sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Brenda Allen, of Shoals, Billy and Jean Allen, of Shoals, Bobby and Pam Allen, of King; three daughters and sons-in-law, Doris and Charlie Smith, of Winston-Salem, Jane and Wayne Hester, of Belews Creek, and Peggy and Richard Hood, of Belews Creek; ten grandchildren; two step-grandchildren, twenty great-grandchildren, and one step-great-grandchild. Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by one son, Harold Jean Allen, her parents, and several brothers and sisters. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, August 15, 2011 at 11:00 A.M. at Cox-Needham Chapel with Rev. Ronnie Chamblin and Rev. Marion Fulk officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
