Alfred J. Karns, age 72, of Brockton died August 12, 2011 at Good Samaritan Medical Center. He was the loving husband for nearly 49 years of Maureen F. (O’Brien) Karns. Born and raised in Dorchester, he was the son of the late Henry and Josephine (Carty) Karns. For 31 years he had been employed in the trucking industry as a tractor trailer driver and was a member of Teamsters Local 25 in Boston and Local 653 in Brockton. Prior to his retirement 12 years ago, he worked for Yellow Freight Systems in Abington. Al enjoyed bowling and had been a member of leagues in Abington and East Bridgewater.
Al is also survived by a sister Dorothy F. Karns of Brockton and several nieces and nephews. He was the brother of the late Ruth Munn, Lorraine Colman, Claire Duggan and John J. Karns.
Visitation will be held in the Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont Street (Rte 123) Brockton Monday 4-7pm. A Funeral Service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 11am.
