Carolyn Johnson Kirkland, age 78, Douglas, GA passed away on Thursday, August 11, 2011 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Ms. Kirkland was born in West Green, GA to the late Leroy and Stella Mae Stone Burnam on August 29, 1932. She worked at the ASCS Office as a clerk and she was a member of the West Ward Street Church of God. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, August 13, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. in the Douglas City Cemetery with Rev. Leroy Spivey officiating. Survivors include: son: Wayne Johnson, Douglas, Ga; sister: Shirley Adams, Douglas, GA; brothers: Joe Burnam, Sylvester, GA, Kenneth Burnam, Ambrose, GA; grandchildren: Swede (Amy) Johnson, Moultrie, GA, Kacee Johnson, Tallahassee, FL; great grandchild: Ally Johnson, Moultrie, GA; several nieces and nephews. Sims Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
