Michael D. Nigro, 81, of Oakhurst Drive died Thursday at his home. He was the husband of the late Eleanor (Martoccia) Nigro.
Born in New York City, he was a son of the late Frank and Grace (Trivigno) Nigro. He moved to Smithfield in 1970.
Mr. Nigro had worked as a draftsman for the former Philips Electronics for 37 years until retiring. He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a former lector at St. Philip Church, leader of the LaSallette Padre Pio prayer group and member of the St. Charles Church Intercessory Prayer Group. In his spare time, Michael made rosary beads for the missionary’s, military personnel stationed through out the world and for the people of St. Philip Church.
He is also survived by his children, Frank S. Nigro of Woodbridge, VA, George Nigro of Smithfield, Grace Irwin of East Rockaway, NY, Rose Fochler of Smithfield and Theresa Hunt of Upton, MA; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; two brothers, Nicholas Nigro of New York and Mario Nigro of New Jersey.
Funeral Monday at 8:30am from the ANDERSON-WINFIELD Funeral Home, Route 44 at Greenville Common, Greenville. Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30am in St. Philip Church, 622 Putnam Pike, Greenville.
