Obituary

Retired Maj. Stanley F. Kuligowski, Jr., 85, of Derry, NH passed away on Monday August 8, 2011 at his home following a courageous battle with kidney disease. He was born on May 8, 1924 in Lawrence, MA, a son of the late Stanley and Stella (Borowski) Kuligowski, Sr. Mr. Kuligowski grew up in Derry before enlisting in the US Air Force. He served during WWII and fought as a bombadier with the 401st Airborne Division where he received many commendations. He retired as a Major and after the war he worked for the National Security Agency as a decoder and Polish linguist. Upon his retirement, he moved to Farmington where he lived until 2004 when he moved back to his hometown of Derry. He enjoyed fishing, canoeing, clamming and most of all gardening with his best friend Ben Plocharczyk. He and Ben sold the fruits of their labors at a stand in front of their homes. Mr. Kuligowski had a strong devotion to his Lord.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Phyllis (Johnson) Kuligowski, one daughter, Stephanie Kuligowski, two sons, Stanley Kuligowski and his wife Donna, and Jan Kuligowski, six grandsons, and three great grandchildren. He was predeceased by his youngest son, Michael Kuligowski in June 2011, his only granddaughter, Kalia Kuligowski in January 2011 and one grandson, Adam Kuligowski in April 2009.
Following cremation, memorial calling hours were held on Friday, August 19, 2011 from 5 - 7PM in the Peabody Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 15 Birch Street, Derry. A private memorial service was held by the family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be to Amedysis Hospice, 1E Commons Drive, Unit 31, Londonderry, NH 03053.
