Irene L. Jencyowski, 82

Irene L. (Julio) Jencyowski, 82, of Norton, passed away on Wednesday August 10, 2011 at the Epoch Senior Healthcare in Sharon. She was the beloved wife of the late Leo S. Jencyowski, to whom she was wed for 58 years at the time of his death on May 18, 2009.
Born in Boston, MA on October 26, 1928, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Celistina (Drago) Julio.
Irene grew up in the Roslindale section of Boston and was educated in Roslindale public schools. She was a graduate of Roslindale High School and had attended secretarial school in Boston.
A dedicated homemaker to her loving family, Mrs. Jencyowski had also been employed for many years as a secretary at Foxboro Electric Supply, and when younger, had worked at the Spencer Shoe Co. in Boston.
A resident of Norton for over 35 years, Irene was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church in Norton. She treasured the times spent with her adoring family and in later years with her grandchildren.
Irene enjoyed reading, solving crossword puzzles, and playing card and board games. She was an avid New England sports fan, the Red Sox and Patriots being her favorite teams and will always be remembered for her exceptional cooking skills.
She is survived by her devoted children: Linda M. Fernandes and her husband Kenneth of North Easton and Thomas J. Jencyowski and his wife Luann of Norton. The dear sister of the late Louise Julio and Eda Zanghetti, she is also survived by her cherished grandchildren: Jennifer O’Neill and her husband Kevin of Mansfield, Brian Fernandes of North Easton and Paula Jencyowski and William Jencyowski both of Norton, her great granddaughter Kaelin O’Neill of Mansfield, and several nieces and nephews.
Her funeral, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be held on Monday August 15th at 9:00 A.M. from the Norton Memorial Funeral Home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton, followed by a Mass of Christian burial celebrated at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow in the Timothy Plain Cemetery, Norton.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday August 14th from 5-8 P.M. at the Norton Memorial Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Irene’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, Massachusetts Chapter, 311 Arsenal St., Watertown, MA 02472.
