Obituary

GLOUCESTER - Eleanor C. (Lee) Kaleel, 91, formerly of Gloucester, died Thursday morning, July 21, 2011 at The Lafayette in Marblehead following a short illness. She was the wife of the late Esau Kaleel.

Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Joseph R. and Gertrude V, (Hayes) Lee and attended Lynn public schools.

Eleanor and her late husband traveled extensively. They enjoyed travel up and down the East Coast and also traveled abroad, especially visiting countries in the Middle East.

Prior to becoming unable to live alone, she was a resident of Gloucester for over 30 years, and lived at the Central Grammar Apartments. Eleanor was an avid reader, known to read several books in a week’s time. She was well known at the Gloucester Lyceum and Sawyer Free Library. She was a gentle and caring person and enjoyed walking in and around the downtown area... She also took part in activities at the Rose Baker Senior Center

Eleanor is survived by one cousin, Michael Kaleel of Hamilton.

Funeral services were private. For those who desire, donations may be made in her memory to the Gloucester Lyceum and Sawyer Free Library, 2 Dale Avenue, Gloucester, MA 01930.
