Obituary

SOMERSET - Ruth G. (LeValley) Tripp, 89, of Westport died Saturday, February 14, 2004 after a brief illness at Somerset Ridge. She was the wife of the late Arthur V. Tripp, Jr.

Born in Fall River, daughter of the late Roland and Margaret (McCrosson) LeValley, she had been a resident of Westport for most of her life. She was a member of the Calvary Bible Church in Westport where she was the organist and choir director for over 20 years.

She was formerly employed as a school teacher at the Highland School and Roberson School both of Fall River and had been the head mistress at the Christian Day School also of Fall River until her retirement. Mrs. Tripp was a graduate of B.M.C. Durfee High School, class of 1932 then she attended Union Hospital Nursing School. She went on to graduate from Gordon College in 1942 then received her Masters in Education from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1946.

She was a member of the Christian Women’s Club of New Bedford and the Westport Historical Society. Mrs. Tripp also played the organ at the Potter Funeral Home and Kirby Funeral Home for many years.

She is survived a niece: Jane L. MacIntyre and 2 nephews: Seth K. LeValley and George W. LeValley, Jr. and many other nieces and nephews.

She was the sister of the late George W. LeValley.

Visitation from Saturday, February 21, 2004, 9-10 A.M. one hour prior to the funeral service.

Funeral service on Saturday, February 21, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. at the POTTER L HOME, 81 Reed Rd., Westport.

Interment in Beech Grove Cemetery, Westport.
