Mary Pauline Morris, 88, of Fitzgerald, Georgia, died Saturday, February 14, 2004, in Duncan, South Carolina.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, February 17, 2004, at Fellowship Baptist Church with Rev. Henry Tyson and Rev. Bobby Stone officiating. Interment will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 7:00 until 9:00 Monday evening at Paulk Funeral Home, Fitzgerald.
Mrs. Morris was born November 4, 1915, in Osierfield, to the late Ed Walsh and Thelma Patton Walsh. She lived and worked in Columbus during World War II. In 1944, Mrs. Morris returned to Fitzgerald where she became the first Manager for the Sears Roebuck Catalog Store. She was an accomplished artist in oils, attended Fitzgerald High School, held a Degree in Art from South Georgia College, and opened her home to teach art. Mrs. Morris was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and was a homemaker. She had lived in the community the greater part of her life having made her home in South Carolina for the past five years.
Mrs. Morris is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law: Mary Jo & Mike Riely of Duncan, South Carolina and Ann & John Morehead of Irwinville; eight grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren; three brothers: Owen Walsh of Fitzgerald, Bill Walsh and Garner Walsh, both of Macon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe Morris, two sisters, and one brother.
