VANDERBEEK, Rosamond M. (nee Le Blanc), age 101 of Dumont, NJ departed to eternal life on August 4, 2011. Rosamond was born on November 2, 1909 in Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. She immigrated in April 1912 to Newton, MA and was raised there by her family. In 1942 she moved to Oradell and then when married, relocated to Dumont as a homemaker for the past 63 years.
Beloved wife of the late Frederick H. Vanderbeek (1990), she is predeceased by her parents, Edmund Le Blanc and Marie Agnus Le Blanc (nee Benoit) and two brothers: Edmond and Herbert LeBlanc and three sisters: Lillian White, Evelyn Cannon, and Rena Gray. She is survived by her devoted son, Frederick Jr. of Dumont, seven nephews and one niece and numerous grand and great nephews and nieces.
She was a member of the Oradell Women’s Auxiliary of the VFW Post# 2183. As a young woman while visiting Cape Cod, she modeled for the renowned Provincetown, MA artist E. Ambrose Webster (1869 – 1935). Rosamond will be deeply missed by her relatives and friends. She was loved by all those who knew her.
Friends and family are invited for visitation on Tuesday, August 9th from 2-4 and 7-9 PM at Volk Leber Funeral Home, 268 Kinderkamack Rd., Oradell, NJ. A funeral service will begin on Wednesday, August 10th at 9 AM from the funeral home and then to St. Joseph’s RCC in Oradell for a 10 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment to follow in George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in Rosamond’s memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
