Georgiann "Dod" Newberry passed away peacefully on August 6th, after a long and courageous battle with cancer and other complications. Georgie was born in North St. Paul on November 23, 1936 to George and Grace McIntyre. She attended St. Peter's Grade School, North St. Paul High School and received her Radiology Technician training in St. Paul before embarking on a 45 year career in pediatric radiology. In 1983, she married the love of her life, Robert Newberry and they enjoyed 28 years of marriage. She approached her illnesses with grace and courage and never lost her positive attitude. Georgie is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Tom; and brother-in-law, Ed McNeary. She is survived by her husband, Bob; his children Lynn (Doug) Brooks, Jon (Andie) Newberry, Gretchen Newberry; and grandchildren Patrick and Lauren Brooks, Haley and Tyler Newberry. Georgie also leaves behind sisters Mickey McIntyre, Peggy (Tom) Lamb, Carol McNeary, Pat McIntyre, Colleen (Mudhafer) Bakri and sister-in-law, Susan McIntyre. She will also be sadly missed by her nieces and nephews Maureen McNeary (Terry Sieben), Kathleen McNeary, Colleen (Ramon) Moran, James (Ellen) McNeary, Eileen McNeary, Brian Bakri, Theresa (Lacy) Papenfus, Colleen (Tim) Merrill, Tim (Marvel) Bakri, Kathryn Lamb and their children; many cousins and countless friends. A special thank you to the Frauenshu Cancer Center, oncologist Dr. Steven Duane and the doctors and nurses of the ICU at Methodist Hospital for their kind and compassionate care. Mass of Christian Burial will be Monday, August 8, 11:00 AM at CHURCH OF ST. PETER, 2600 N. Margaret St., North St. Paul. Interment St. Mary's Cemetery, North St. Paul. Visitation Sunday 4-7 PM at SANDBERG FUNERAL HOME, 2593 E. 7th Ave., North St. Paul, and one hour prior to Mass at church. In lieu of flowers, memorials preferred.
